att has false advertisement - AttUverse Bundle

Online today I found advertisement for att U-Verse 450 for $147.00/ monthly good until 7/17/10 but the company says that promotion is over sorry. They informed me that I can still get that great bundle for $192.00/monthly. If that price is to much then maybe I should look at a lower price bundle.

On 7/15/2010 an account manager came to my home with the same offer. My husband and I decided to try it out as the unlimited internet access on our BlackBerries, which we pay $30/per line each month will be capped by the FCC beginning Aug. 1st (according to the account rep if you become a U-Verse customer or purchase an iPhone the unlimited access will remain on your lines. He also said that all wireless carriers will be capped. Hmmm, strange how the only way to have unlimited mobile internet access would be to sign up for U-verse or purchase an iPhone, and iPhones is an exclusive of ATT...seems pretty shady to me). Our install is scheduled for 7/31. After reading your complaint,I pulled out my paperwork and read it thoroughly this time. I realized that this special offer is only for a year! After that, U-verse services will be billed at then-existing standard rates (which we won't know the price of that until the time comes)unless canceled by the customer before end of term. If you choose an early termination of service, you're charged a fee of $180. So after everything we will end up paying more per month than with our current telecomm services! Which is for our land line, long distance & HSI is $104/month, Direct TV $130/month and our wireless is $99/month before taxes and the $30x2 for unlimited mobile internet which may soon be subject to change. In the 2 years we had Direct TV the only rate increase we have was in the ballpark of a few bucks. If anything new channels were added to the lineup.

Of course none of this wasn't explained to us during the sign-up. He quickly got someone from the U-verse dept on the phone to run a credit check for approval. Then the appointment was confirmed and finalized for Jul 31st.

But this all sounds pretty strange to me. We have been loyal customers of ATT for over 10 years with home, wireless & internet service, which is affordable and fits our budget. We have Direct TV with 2 HD receivers, one of them is a DVR, and a 3rd one being a regular set top box for our son's TV. We have the top channel package, HD package is only $4.99/mo, premiums include all except the CineMax pack....no issues in the two years of service, no billing disputes, and our monthly bill is anywhere between $130 to $150 depending if we order a sporting event or PPV movie.

So after reading most of the complaints here, as well as some from other sites, I decided to call ATT U-verse in a few hours to cancel my order. It sounds extremely stressful to go through this just to watch TV and have a bundle package. I read about one poor guy that ATT had sent to a collection agency saying that he failed to send the equipment back in, when he had proof that he did! It's easier to just stick with what we currently have, plus it's cheaper in the long run. As for the mobile internet cap, I have a desktop and netbook computer, so I really don't have to use my Blackberry to go online.

It sounds to me that ATT is taking advantage of the consumers and current customers during these tough economic times. The reps aren't taking the time to thoroughly explain things and once they become customers, the service is very limited to where you're treated like a poor orphan. Since I experienced a similar thing with Comcast some years ago, there's no way I can go through that again.

I hope this message helps all perspective consumers who are considering 'U-worse TV'. Thanks for reading.
