Don't switch


In late January 2010 we signed up for ATT Uverse with phone, internet and tv service. It was installed on February 1 and since then I have been on the phone with ATT constantly. The tv service has been fine and the internet service has been so-so, doesn't seem any faster than the old dsl though , despite the salesmans claims when signed up. The real pain in the neck has been the phone service as I have come to find out after numerous calls to ATT level 2 tech support that faxing, home burgalar alarm systems do not work with voice over internet phone service. Many reps I have talked to there at ATT have said they should work fine and many have said no they do not, the sales man should not have told you that. We are now waiting for a couple weeks now to have our phone lines ported back to regular lines so we can use our fax and home burgalar alarm system. Also when we signed up for Uverse we were told that we would get a 300 dollar visa gift card . It cost us 300 dollars to get out of our Dish network contract so we could get the ATT service. Now today I call the rewards center and I was told we are not eligible for any rewards cards!! I called the customer service center and they told me we got a 38 dollar credit for 6 months and they offered me a 100 dollar gift card. By having to port our phone lines back to regular lines so we can use our fax and home burgalar alarm system we are proabably going to lose that 38 dollar credit for the next 6 months. I am so sorry I even heard of Uverse, for 10 years we had 2 regular phone lines with a ring mater line for faxing and everything was fine . I called ATT to see if we could save any money on a package deal and that is when he told me about Uverse--again I am so sorry I switched to Uverse. I even went over my minute amount with my cell phone because I was on it so much with ATT trying to get these problems resolved, an extra 40 dollars there. When I called to get our old plan back that we had before I was told that it was not even available and that we would have to start all over as if we were new phone company customers. They even ran a credit check before we could get our lines ported back to regular phone lines from Uverse. Please help us with this since it cost us 300 dollars to get out of our Dish contract, we are not apparently getting the 300 dollar visa gift card from ATT and finding out basically that all the sales man told me about Uverse phone service was a lie.
